Overview

Om helps you practice Hindu philosophy through daily wisdom and personal reflection. The app provides verses from the Bhagavad Gita with personalized insights, traditional Vedic timings (Panchang), and optional birth chart analysis for self-understanding. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data.

Account Information

Om requires you to create an account during onboarding. We collect and store:

• Your chosen username
• Authentication credentials (managed securely through Supabase)
• Account creation date and login activity

Birth Information (Optional)

If you choose to add your birth details for personalized insights, we collect and store:

• Your birth date and time
• Your birth location (city/coordinates)
• Calculated astrological data derived from your birth information

This information is stored securely and used solely to generate your personalized astrological insights.

Location Data

Om requires access to your device's location to:

• Calculate traditional Vedic timings (Panchang) for your location
• Determine local sunrise and sunset times
• Display your current coordinates
• Show your current location name
• Schedule location-appropriate daily notifications

You can enable/disable location services through your device settings at any time. When enabled, we access your location:

• In the foreground when you're actively using the app
• We may cache your location data locally on your device to reduce API calls and ensure functionality when offline

Notifications

Om schedules local notifications on your device to provide daily spiritual guidance. These notifications:

• Are scheduled locally on your device (not sent from our servers)
• Use cached daily wisdom content when available
• Can be disabled through your device's notification settings
• Are scheduled for 7:30 AM local time by default

Reflections

Om's core feature is daily reflection on Gita wisdom. When you submit a reflection:

• Your written or voice-transcribed response is stored securely
• Your reflection is processed by AI to generate a personalized insight
• Both your response and the generated insight are saved to your account
• Reflections can be viewed in the Me tab and deleted at any time

Data Storage and Processing

• User accounts, usernames, and birth information are securely stored using Supabase
• Current location data is processed in real-time and cached temporarily for app functionality
• Birth chart calculations are performed on our secure servers and results are stored
• Daily forecast data is cached locally on your device to improve performance
• We maintain user profiles to personalize your experience
• All data transmission is encrypted and secure

Analytics and Usage Data

We use Posthog analytics to improve our app experience. This includes:

• App usage patterns and feature interactions
• Anonymous usage statistics
• Performance and error tracking
• User journey analytics (linked to your username for personalization)

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase for secure user authentication and data storage
• Posthog for analytics and app improvement
• OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service to convert coordinates into location names
• Our secure AWS servers for Vedic astronomical calculations

We only work with third-party services that maintain privacy and security standards equivalent to or exceeding our own.

Data Sharing

• We do not sell your personal data to third parties
• Location data is only shared with OpenStreetMap for reverse geocoding
• Analytics data is processed by Posthog in accordance with their privacy policy
• User account data is managed by Supabase under their security standards
• Coordinates are transmitted to our servers solely for astronomical calculations

Data Retention

• User accounts, usernames, and birth chart information are retained until you delete your account
• Analytics data is retained according to Posthog's data retention policies
• Current location data is not permanently stored
• Cached daily forecast data is stored temporarily on your device
• You can request complete account and data deletion at any time

Children's Privacy

Om is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access any data we hold about you
• Delete your account and associated data (available in the Me tab within the app)
• Disable location services at any time
• Opt out of analytics tracking
• Contact us with privacy concerns

To exercise these rights, use the relevant controls within the app or contact us directly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy as the app evolves. Users will be notified of any significant changes through the app or email.
